Designing wi-fi router settings and Amazon Alexa integration for the launch of Verizon 5G home internet.
Project Overview
The launch of Verizon 5G internet needed a new, user-friendly set up process.
I designed the 5G internet router experience for the My Verizon app, as well as account creation experiences across platforms. In the app, I created flows for setting up Amazon Alexa voice assistant with your 5G Home Internet routers, managing connecting smart devices, creating device groups and settings to limit internet access for certain device groups (common for parental control), and other general WiFi management settings.
The Challenge
How might we simplify the complex process of setting up a Wi-Fi router and managing it's settings for a non-technical audience?
How might we make it simple and flexible for account holders to manage Wi-Fi in their households across devices?
How might we make the integration flow with Amazon Alexa easy and straightforward despite requiring external account validation steps?
Impact
The experience I designed tested well in research, and became part of the My Verizon app for the 5G home internet launch.
